Bringing together both people and a great cause, we descended upon Ventura State Beach for beach cleanup. Volunteers from Happy Ground worked dawn to dusk in the morning cleaning up all the waste that lined up along the beach. Beach pollution levels have been so high in the United States that many beaches are often closed to swimmers. Though it was timely and at times tedious cleaning up, we had so a blast. The fun came from the mutual respect for the beaches, and the feeling we were doing some good. At the end of the cleanup we all cheered because we cleared a huge stretch of trash along the beach. It was a rewarding experience.

Happy Ground descended upon Camarillo Grove Park for another full day of trash cleanup. Our goal was to pick up waste left over from campers and hikers. Needless to say, the recent visitors of the Grove were not kind to it. Fortunately for the park though, the volunteers gleefully cleared the park of trash. The time flew by because the area we covered was so majestic and beautiful. Because we were there all day, we got to explore a lot. The Grove looked even prettier afterward, if that’s possible. And the volunteers got a kick out of clearing the Grove of trash.
